I see a Twinkle in Your Eye
A lot of new, exciting change has come into my life in 2021 so far. When I think about the end of 2020, scrambling at what my next steps would be, I definitely couldn’t have imagined all this. I kind of laugh at how much has already unfolded so far. You know some of those moments where you say, “What the heck! How in the world did we get here?”
So far in 2021: I’ve started to embark on a year long journey to get my Life Coaching Certification. I got a second job, working at an outdoor shop in order to be able to help pay for the program. New people have come into my life with new relationships forming. I’ve been working to create a website for my blog to allow it to grow. Which hello! Welcome to the new space! And so much more!
One day I was frustrated and overwhelmed, so I went for a walk. (There’s something about a simple neighborhood walk that can be so inspiring and recentering.) Here are some words that started to pour out of my heart on that walk:
“What do you do when you seek more? But more is just out of reach. Something holding you back, someone holding you back.
Oh the twinkle in my eye. How I want to reach to keep you. Do I chase after you with abandon? Do I let you go dim?
How do I handle the obstacles around me that prove to end my feat of you little twinkle?
I end with hope knowing there is more. Greater heights and depths. Greater glimpses of heaven to see. More goodness to be had. Amidst the reckonings and limitations.”
As I speedily typed these rushing thoughts onto a note on my phone, I couldn’t help but be filled with peace and excitement. Making shifts and pivots in our life are scary, uncharted, and often feel so far out of reach. Often, when we get the courage to take a step into the unknown we’re faced with challenges, obstacles, limitations, and struggles.
I think it’s safe to say you have a twinkle in your eye, a desire or dream. If not now, at least at one time you can recall there being a twinkle, a desire for more in your life, a glimmer of purpose to be had. I urge you to consider that twinkle, ponder what it means, why it’s there, and if it’s something to explore more.
There is clearly much more to be said here. BUT I’ll just leave you with this. Some twinkles shouldn’t be pursued and some should. I think the really important thing here is to explore them before they grow too dim. Whether it is a BIG yes or a BIG no, there is learning to be had in that place about ourselves, our world, and God.
much love and many more,
kims
